Bring back Cadbury Fuse!

Cadbury FuseIn a recent newspaper article, The Sunday Telegraph credited Chocablog with helping to bring Cadbury Wispa back, but in actual fact we had nothing to do with it. We only mentioned Wispa after Cadbury had announced it was coming back.

But the news of Cadbury bringing back one Chocolate institution led to several comments about the disappearance of Cadbury Fuse. Now call me slow, but I hadn’t even realised it had gone until Chocablog readers mentioned it, and I have to say I’m shocked.

I loved the crispy, chewy fruitiness of Fuse and it was one of my favourite regular purchases. And now I want it back.

But this isn’t just about Fuse and Wispa – Cadbury have a bigger problem here, and that’s in inexorable rise of the Dairy Milk superbrand.

Now don’t get me wrong, I loved the Dairy Milk with Creme Egg bar – partly because a Creme Egg in a bar was such a ridiculously fun idea. But the Dairy Milk brand is killing off some of Britain’s best loved chocolate brands, not to mention stifling development of new ones. If it can’t be squeezed into a small square of Dairy Milk, it seems Cadbury just aren’t interested.

So if you want to help bring back Fuse and save some of our other favourite Cadbury brands, leave a comment here, join the Facebook group and, most importantly, let Cadbury know.

We want our chocolate back!

I’ve only had two Fuse bars in my entire life, because I’ve only been to the UK twice. The first time (in 2001), I saw it and bought it on a whim. The second time I was in the UK (in 2003), I spent a fair amount of my trip SEARCHING for it. I scoured every sweet shop that I saw, but I wasn’t able to find it until I was on my out of the country. It was in a vending machine in Gatwick Airport, and I only had enough change for one bar. If I had only realized that it was on its way to being discontinued (perhaps its absence from the sweet shops should have sounded an alarm, but it didn’t), I would have ordered a bulk shipment so that I could enjoy it here in the US. It was the most memorable candy bar I’ve ever eaten, and certainly my favorite Cadbury indulgence. If it comes back, I will correct my error and promptly order it in bulk.

This is so true, I’ve been dream of ‘The Second Coming of Fuse’ I was hurt by the discontinuation news back in 06′.
I miss my 6 bars a day regime, Dairy Milk has replaced it but hasn’t made up for it.

I whole heartedly support the plan to bring Fuse back.
Did you know that of research, 82% said it was excellent and 40 million base were sold in its first week. A. Why would they discontinue such success and B. These stats are enough of a rasin (yeah I did) to bring back such great piece of chocolate!

I’ll chime in as another Yank that dearly misses the Fuse bar. There really must be some clear cut reason that makes these big companies dump products that seem to be very popular. You’d suspect they could still be making a killing on this bar, but there must be some reason they don’t feel that way. Carnation dumped the “breakfast bar” her in the U.S., back in the early 90s, and plenty of people would kill to have that back. If they ever do start producing these 2 again, I may need 3 or 4 seat belt extenders on my next trip to the UK.
