Cadbury Creme Egg Bar

Ok, I admit it – here at Chocablog, we do have something of a Creme Egg fetish. But who doesn’t?

Anyway, after much hunting, Creme Egg Bars (aka ‘Cadbury Dairy Milk with Creme Egg’) have suddenly appeared in all my local shops. And I have taken it upon myself to buy them all.

I have to say, these are rather yummy, but they do suffer a little from the same low fondant-to-chocolate ratio that the mini creme eggs do. Basically, there’s just not enough of it!

I also noticed the fondant appears to be much more orange than the fondant in proper creme eggs. I’m not entirely sure why, but I’m sure there’s a good scientific explanation.

At the moment, these bars appear to only be available in 45g size. Obviously, this isn’t enough, so I have taken to buying at least 2 at once. But the best thing about these is simply the fact that they’re bars. Unwrapping real Creme Eggs in public can be a messy experience and often leads to humiliation when you end up with fondant all over your face while on the bus.

These bars solve that problem instantly, but we must have bigger bars. I won’t be satisfied until I can get a 500g Creme Egg Bar.

It’s not much to ask, is it?

Yes, it patently *is* too much to ask.

Let us know when they start making them, won’t you?

I’m fascinated by the creation of the creme egg bar!

Where are you located at (there’s no about page)? Is this a UK-only thing?

Yes, we’re in the UK. But I’m sure you’ll find them over there at some point!

What a tasty blog. :-) Those look fabulous! I hope they do make it to the US.

Maybe you can help me with a question I have. When I was a kid in Hong King, 2 or 3 times I encoutered a Cadbury chocolate bar that had raised shapes with fillings inside. As I recall, there was a raised orange slice filled with orange creme, maybe a strawberry with strawb creme. I don’t remember how many sections there were though. I thought it was called Milk Tray, but Googling that only produces info on a boxed assortment and I’m sure this was a bar. In HK we got a lot of things that were packaged for UK or Australia, so it may have been something that was somewhat exclusive. Any ideas?

Was it Fry’s Chocolate Cream / Orange Cream / Peppermint Cream?

Cadbury own Frys, so it could be branded differently in other countries..

There used to be a Milk Tray Bar (I’m pretty certain of this)
I recall never managing to break the pieces carefully enough so sometimes you got a hint of orange creme with the strawberry creme

Over here in Australia we have a Cadbury Snack bar which has sections of different flavours including orange, strawberry, pineapple, caramel, turkish delight and coconut ice. It’s available in family sized blocks as well as individual bars. Would this be the equivalent of your Milk Tray Bar?
