Hotel Chocolat Creamed Caramel Easter Egg Sandwich
Easter is approaching rapidly, and that can only mean one thing – more Easter Eggs from Hotel Chocolat. They’ve been kind enough to send us a couple, and I’m starting with the smaller of the two.
This 100g egg is made in two mirror image halves, each with a thick ‘base’ that form the sandwich when pushed together.
Unfortunately, the design on the egg halves does tend to make them look a little bit like a pair of chocolate Easter breasts when you take them out of the box…
I’ve no idea if that’s deliberate or if it’s just my messed up mind, but it does seem a little odd.
The milk, white and caramel chocolate all taste of caramel to some extent, but the milk chocolate also has some rather pleasing cocoa notes as well. The overall effect is very sweet and very creamy, but at only 100 grams, it’s all gone before you have a chance to make yourself really sick.
The quality is great, but I can’t help thinking that a lot of the Hotel Chocolat products I’ve tried lately have been just the same old chocolate poured into different shaped moulds.
This egg could undoubtedly be improved no end if it had been filled with luminous, lime-green prawn cocktail flavoured foam (or similar). I’m sure kids will love it as it is, but aside from looking like a pair of chocolate breasts, it just doesn’t quite have the sense of fun that I want from Hotel Chocolat.

HAHA Dom I thought exactly the same thing (Boobies!!) when I took the pictures for my review of the Fruit and Nut version of this. I didn’t put it in my review as I thought people would think I was a weirdo! Glad to know I wasn’t the only one though!

I’m SO glad it’s not just me (although it could be we’re both weirdos of course).

I’m sure my sister’s baby daughter would try to suck on those ;)

Great – already bought 4 of these for family members – now when I hand them over I’ll be thinking “Boobs boobs boobs! Nobody notice the boobs!”. I’m sure they’ll be tasty though :D

Boobies or not, it’s a sad day when a Hotel Chocolat delight fails to excite you, Dom. Boy, you’re getting spoiled…!

I don’t think I’m spoiled! All I want is luminous lime green prawn cocktail flavoured fillings… it’s not like I’m asking for easter eggs with frickin’ laser beams!

Hehe, chocolate boobs :) Seriously though, I wish Hotel Chocolat was available in Australia. I love seeing all the really unique things they come up with, especially during the different holidays.

They do look like breasts. Big purple white and brown chocolate breats.

Not so sure I would serve them to the kids, I maybe would hold aside for the adults in the family, and have them for a conversation piece!
