Cadbury Gorilla Advert

I just had to share this TV ad… someone in Cadbury’s marketing department has clearly been putting hallucinogenic drugs in the chocolate…

There’s a higher quality version on the Cabdury website – (assuming you can stand to listen to Phil Collins in higher quality).

Is phil collins in the suit?
    It’s a wacky idea!

  2. daniel jarvis

phil has seen it & he has said that the lad is better drummer then him it was on the t.v.they asked him what he thought of the ad & he said it was well funny

  3. CAUSE EVERY SLIGHTLY STRANGE IDEA HAS SOME CONNECTION TO DRUGS

  4. My husband thinks this ad is fantastic. He cant stop watching it, its the only advert he watches all the way through. Normally he flicks the channels when ad’s are on.
I think its great too. Really good way to get people talking.

  5. Amy

Ummm well if the Gorilla is a guy in a suit then how does it blink and there are actual eyes in it??

  6. robert

it is a real gorolla and a suited guy and trick camera and computor work

  7. Taylah

    iis That a real gorilla?

i am strongly against animal cruelty =]

  8. grant brett

i think it a great advert and a mint song and i dont think any animals were hurt in the making of the video

  9. Ez

    it’s about passion.

    the gorilla is real. ;o)

how you all read so deeply into it, its a simple visual metaphor – chocolate is a passionate affair as is drumming, plus imagine a Gorilla drumming – there’s your extra half glass in a glass and a half.

Ez – art direction + design

The relevance is hidden within the advert.

    The Advert is 90secs long.

It takes roughly that to eat a bar of cadbury’s dairy milk.

What Cadbury’s are trying show is a minute and half of pure joy but not obviously some actor just eating it on tele n get our tastesbuds watering.

90secs of Joy, Great Choc, Better Advert….

  11. Goldengirl

Well, my mum said that the guy who sings the song plays the drums. So maybe the guy who is singing the song is in a gorilla suit and there’s some computer and camera tricks.
OUr family spent about an hour coming up with ideas on who it works!!!=]=] hehe!

    AMAZING ADVERT. IT’S VERY COOL¬_¬

  12. tom

  13. 15. That advert has to be the best advert which has ever been made, everyone else you dont know what you are talkin about

  16. RecursiveS

    Simply the best advert ever…

So many little things you don’t see the first time….

    I love it…

Where can I dl it so I can see it forever?

  17. Bob

great ad. the idea is that you wonder why does that have anything to do with cadbury, then it gets stuck in your head because you are wondering. And if its stuck in your head you will be thinking of cadbury all the time and want to buy it more:P

  18. JSHUGHES

There is not meant to be a similarity between the fucking chocolate and the gorilla on the drums, it just attracts alot of people cz its funny than they have their brand name ‘Cadburys’ to go on the front cover. its called advertising, feckin ell mate.

  19. Jergun

Yo people really need to lighten up man, this advert is about what it feels like to do something you love, hence the gorilla beating on the drums, taking deep breathes to show how much he is loving beating the drums to phil collins I can feel it, and it is trying to compare this feeling to eating a bar of dairy milk. Dam am only 13 years old I still seem to understand this advert. Why r people always tring to make a big deal out of nothin, pls people just relax, u need a break, don’t have a KItKat have Dairy Milk or sumthing.

  20. Jergun

Y is people stressing over something so simple

  21. Ali

I will try to remember what it is advertising…….but really , who cares – its fab! Annie

  23. din

Why are some people getting worked up, it’s only an advert!! A damn fine, absolutely brilliant one!! Love it, everytime it comes on.

  24. matt

Leave this alone, it was brilliant and fun, let it rest as a great piece of advertising, with a classic film and soundtrack. I loved it and sent it to my brother in USA, who loved it, brilliance is universal. stop trying to work out if man=monkey or monkey=man.

    Its great

  25. Hello, I would really, really, REALLY appreciate your help with this.

It is a short survey about the Cadbury Dairy Milk Advert:

    Thank you so much

  26. O

this is the most pointless advert i have ever seen if i was the client i would cry over every second of wasted money i put into it. I love cadburys but this will not get me to buy their chocolate, it just makes me think of how low the audience/target market’s intelligence is now days. I study marketing/motion picture medium and media/television, and this advert is the biggest load of sh*t i’ve ever seen.

  27. Al

My only wish is for them to broadcast this ad in the united states. I’ve been watching ads for years now because it relates to the line of work I’m in and at the same time they stepped it up in entertainment values such as the GEICO commercials however this tops them undeniably.

Simple, when I see this I see love and I feel love and I feel free and what better way to make a connection than with chocolate…

  28. consultant

    Hi

This is a brilliant piecce of advertisisng. Can some one send this ad to me or let me know where I can download it. Need to send it to my Fiance.

    Thanks

  29. Look, you can’t analyse the ad because it was obviously dreamed up in a pub late one evening as an amusing thought. No doubt it was presented to a number of clients until one said, “Yeah OK, that’s different, nothing else is working so lets try it.” Bingo. Sales of cadbury’s have gone up.
The Tango ad of many years ago – man walks out of office and ends up in boxing ring on Dover cliffs – was presented to 5 clients before Tango bought it.
The key point is that it’s started to make clients wake up to the fact that people buy entertainment first and sales messages second. Boring ads – 95% of them – don’t work. You need to emotional engage people, most ads don’t engage anyone. And I’m saying that working in the ad industry.

  30. jacob

hehe my mum thinks the gorilla is real

  31. Alex

how do you download it to your phone?

  32. Jodie

What a great advert! I believe its very well edited. . I think its partly a real gorilla in some parts and partly a costumed actor which i believe is called goran Micheals. . (i think). . . I’ve seen a gorilla close up, and they do look surreal, . . The reason cadburys are doing the ‘half productions’ is if you notice, they are all about 60 sec’s long. . On average the time it would take u to eat a dairy milk, the adverts all show passion and affection in some way. . . You know what they say,. . Chocolate is better than sex!! Lol x x

  33. daniel

wish i could get a gorila outfit like that so i could scare the shit out of the neighbours

  34. The 90 second clip involves an actor (Garon Michael) in a gorilla suit, preparing mentally for engaging with Phil Collins song, In The Air Tonight and points people to a web site, A Glass And A Half Full Productions. The ad is designed purely for viral entertainment value, and to raise awareness of the Cadbury glass and a half logo.

  35. laura

is the gorrila a real one or a man in a suit

  36. Ellen

What bad taste this advert is. Cadbury’s portrays the gorilla in their advert and at the same time, uses palm oil as an ingredient in their products. The apes natural rainforest habitat is being cleared on a large scale to make room to grow those very palms from which the oil is extracted.Shame on you Cadbury’s for not doing your bit for the environment.

  37. Cassidy

wow all i want was a few peoples comments 4 my homework but Ellen your quite right
    SHAME ON U CADBURY
but on that note i still can’t taste the difference between palm oil and the other stuff although i’m only 13 so mabey it’s just my taste buds but seriously people whats all the fuss about

  38. stafford bain
