I can think of a couple that aren't with us anymore.

Bar 6 and Jellimallo. Jellimallo was a kind of turkish delight with mallow on top covered in chocolate. Came in two pieces on a card tray and was lovely.

I'd never even heard of Jellimallo.. a Google search revelas precisely 4 results, including this...

"The first real pop music used in commercials was in 1963 when cartoon Beatles launched Nestle's Jellimallo bar. "

Well you learn something every day.

    Cadbury Caramello.

Until at age about 10 or 11 I ate a large block in about one go, then spent the next day or so being violently ill.

I have not been able to touch the stuff ever since.

There was this wonderful chocolate cream back in the olden days in my country. It was sold in small jars and had a yellow label with a red squirrel on it. My goodness, I'd give a lot for just a spoonful of this one! Also, I loved Hanuta which was essentially a sandwich made of two wafers and filled with a wonderful chocolate and hazelnut cream. Do they still make Hanuta in Germany? If so, I think I know where I should go for my next short break :)

Maggie, they surely do - you'll have to book your trip to Germany!
Indeed, Hanuta is what comes to mind when I think of my childhood chocolate favourites, along with Duplo and Kinder Country. Oh, and Ü-Eier (surprise eggs) of course. Ferrero is probably what most children in Germany grew up with then.

I had simple taste... Kinder eggs and Cadbury Fudge. Maybe with the occasional Curly Wurly.

As a kid, I guess the favorite was M&Ms. But now I love the dark stuff. And I'm a little spoiled to the higher quality offerings. Ghiardelli is definitely a favorite. And I like to try a piece or two from any new chocolate shop I encounter. I'm involved with a healthy brand of dark chocolate. It has such a pure chocolate taste that since I got used to it, the chocs that use the waxes and fillers are hard for me to go. But I always keep a variety around for whatever chocolate fix my tongue desires.

Heh, I have two chocolates (well, one bar and one ice-cream) from my teen days that I don't see anymore... but unfortunately i cannot remember their names.

The chocolate bar was a 2 pack of slim milk chocolate bars with chocolate covered malt balls resting on the bar (and i think the bar had tiny slivers of malt in it too). Yummy and fun to eat - in layers like any kid would :D

The ice cream was a "Mud" something (Mudslide?) and consisted of a cone-shaped plastic container with a rounded base containing chocolate and vanilla ice cream swirled together with chocolate sauce and chocolate flakes... and just for fun a solid chocolate sphere filling the rounded base. I was working at my local delicatessen in those days and they stocked this and I made a bit habit of buying one on a Saturday afternoon - no eating technique, just *nyom!*

pity i don't have my teenaged metabolism any more.... :D

Cadburys Ice Breaker. A dark chocolate bar with mint crisps. Quite expensive for a child who didn't get much pocket money, but worth every penny. Never understood why they stopped it, maybe I didn't buy enough.

On the minty theme, there was another one, cant remember the name. But was like threads of mint crystals wound round like a Shredded Wheat and covered in dark chocolate. Anyone know the name?

My favourite was Nestle's Sundy. Unfortunately it's not sold here anymore. Maybe I should start a petition to get Nestle Portugal to start producing it again. :D

I grew up in Burlingame, CA before moving to San Francisco. I still make the trek back or just order online to relive some of my favorite chocolate creations.

Probably KitKat, which is still one of my favorite candy chocolates. Wafers are irresistible, along with the fact that it melts so fast that you have to try and eat it faster.

Ghirardelli was a treat, too. We'd buy the bulk pieces that were about an inch thick and broken from what must've been a huge bar. Very exciting idea when you're young.

I'll be honest, I'm a sucker for a yorkie bar or some Riesen chocolate chews but the thing right in front of me at the very moment is possibly the best thing ever: Hotel Chocolat's Triple Chocolate Wham Bam!

I do like the Lindt 90% cocoa bar, 2 for £3 at Waitrose, groovy!
